Is your sound system big enough for 350 people to hear?

It's the right question to ask. An unamplified violin disappears in a ballroom, so the sound system matters as much as the player.

Short answer

Yes. Jared brings a QSC professional sound system with a subwoofer, and he has used it for events of about 2,000 people. If your event has an audio engineer, he can work with them instead. The price is the same either way.

What Jared brings

When a planner asked whether his system was big enough for 350 people, Jared's answer was simple: “Yeah, I've used it for like 2,000 person events.”

  • QSC main speakers. QSC is a top professional audio brand.
  • A QSC KS118 subwoofer. It gives the backing tracks a full bass sound. It weighs over 100 pounds, so it comes when the room needs it.
  • A monitor, so Jared hears himself clearly in a loud room.
  • Microphones, so your host can make announcements during his contracted hours.
  • Everything self-contained. You don't need to hook him into anything.

Working with your audio engineer

Many hotel ballrooms and conference halls already have an audio engineer and a big system. In that case Jared can plug into the house sound and work with your engineer on what's best for the event. If he plugs into the board, he needs a power outlet and an XLR input.

Your quote doesn't change either way. As Jared explains it, he still has to set up some sound even when he's interfacing with yours. His contract simply says the PA system is provided by the artist.

Outdoors and spaces without house sound

Patios, tents and farm venues rarely have a sound system. Jared's own setup covers those, and it can run on battery power where there's no outlet. See outdoor corporate events for what else an outdoor event needs.

Why sound matters for a solo act

Jared usually performs solo over full-band backing tracks. With the right speakers, one player sounds like a whole band, and the bass carries to the back of the room. Planning a hotel event? See hotel and convention center events, or keynote walk-in music for a general session.

Questions planners ask

Do we need to provide any AV?

No. Jared brings his own sound system. If you have an audio engineer, he can work with them instead.

Is it cheaper if we provide the sound?

No. The price is the same either way, because Jared still sets up some of his own sound when he connects to yours.

What do you need to plug into our board?

A power outlet near where he plays and an XLR input into your board.

Can our speakers use your microphone?

Yes. Jared can provide a microphone during his contracted hours.
