What does the violinist wear?
A suit and tie, most of the time. But your wedding sets the dress code, so it's worth a quick conversation.
Jared wears a suit and tie to most weddings, usually with a white shirt. He asks each couple whether that's right for their wedding, so if you're planning something more casual, or black tie, just tell him.

The default: suit and tie
“That's what I wear most of my weddings,” Jared says of his suit and tie, adding that he'll most likely wear a white shirt.
He also asks couples directly: “I typically wear a suit and tie. Is that appropriate for your wedding?” Bring it up on your planning call if you have a color palette, a theme or a dress code he should know about.

How the setup looks
What guests see matters as much as the outfit. Extreme Strings is built to look tidy and stay out of the way:
- Compact. It's usually just Jared, needing a little less than a 10 by 10 foot area. “Keep it nice and compact,” as he says.
- Wireless violin. No cables for guests to trip over, and he can move around at cocktail hour.
- His own speakers. A professional sound system, set up and tested about an hour before music starts, so guests arrive to a finished setup.
- Self-sufficient. He brings what he needs, needs no help from your family or venue staff, and typically plays standing the whole time.
At the ceremony he usually stands behind the guests on the right side.
What helps outdoors
A suit and the Colorado sun don't mix well, so for outdoor ceremonies Jared needs some kind of shade; venues have provided something as simple as an umbrella. If the forecast is near freezing, he'll need a heater nearby so his fingers stay warm enough to play. See what happens if the weather turns.
