Can I hire a violinist for my marriage proposal?
Yes. Extreme Strings has played marriage proposals in Denver and Boulder, from a downtown event space to a mountain overlook.
Yes. Extreme Strings has played three marriage proposals: two at Clock Tower Events in downtown Denver and one at Lost Gulch Overlook in the mountains above Boulder. Jared plans the details with you on a Zoom call, makes sure his setup works with your video setup, and can learn a song that isn't on his list.

How we plan a proposal
- Tell us the plan. Send the date, the place and roughly what you have in mind. We confirm availability and send a quote.
- Book online. Sign the contract and pay the deposit in your BookLive client portal.
- Meet on Zoom. Jared gets to know you a little and works through the fine details with you, so the day itself is simple.
- Pick the songs. Choose from the song list in your BookLive portal. 3 custom songs are included, then $25 each.
- Line up the video. If someone is filming, Jared makes sure his sound setup works with your video setup.
Four Coldplay songs at an overlook
For the proposal at Lost Gulch Overlook, the request was four Coldplay songs. One wasn't on Jared's list, so he learned it. He made the drive from Denver to Boulder and checked that his setup worked with the couple's video setup.
If Coldplay is your sound too, the song list already has Yellow, Fix You, Paradise, A Sky Full of Stars and Viva La Vida.
Outdoor spots like overlooks often have no outlet nearby. Jared's setup can run on battery power, he needs shade, and he has a plan for weather. Read more about playing without an outlet.
Indoors in downtown Denver
The other two proposals were at Clock Tower Events in downtown Denver, in 2024 and 2025. Extreme Strings has also played a wedding there, in 2025.
Details to settle on your call
- Setup time. Jared arrives about an hour before he starts playing to set up and sound-check, so build that into your plan for when your partner arrives.
- Space. He needs a little less than a 10 by 10 foot spot, about the size of a tailgating tent, and can make less work.
- How many songs. Each song runs about three minutes, so four songs cover roughly a quarter of an hour.
