Sunrise Amphitheater wedding violinist

Sunrise Amphitheater, high on Flagstaff Mountain above Boulder, is the Boulder venue Extreme Strings plays most.

Short answer

Yes. Extreme Strings has played weddings at Sunrise Amphitheater in 2023, 2024 and twice in 2026. Jared takes care of his own power up there, and he can bring an acoustic violin as a backup option. If your cocktail hour is at a second venue, he sets that up first at no extra charge.

What's different about Sunrise

  • Bring your own power. As Jared puts it, “I take care of all my own power up at Sunrise Amphitheater.” His battery setup runs the violin and speakers for the whole ceremony.
  • An acoustic option, just in case. Some couples have asked Jared to bring both the electric and an acoustic violin, so he can switch if amplified music becomes an issue on the day. He's never had to switch.
  • A weather backup. Couples have planned Halfway House as their indoor backup. Jared has made a move like that once, and as he puts it, “It is doable.”
  • Shade. Jared needs shade to play, so plan a tent or umbrella for his spot.

Ceremony on the mountain, cocktail hour in town

Some Sunrise couples hold the ceremony on the mountain and cocktail hour somewhere else. Jared has done this before. He sets up and sound-checks the cocktail hour space first, then heads up to Sunrise for the ceremony, so the music is ready when your guests arrive downtown. In his words, “I'm not going to nickel and dime you for the two venues.”

For the ceremony itself, plan on about 16 to 18 songs, with prelude starting about 30 minutes before the time on your invitation. You'll pick them in your BookLive client portal.

Sunrise Amphitheater questions

How do you get power at Sunrise Amphitheater?

Jared brings his own battery power, so he doesn't need an outlet.

What if amplified music is a problem?

Jared can bring an acoustic violin as a backup option. Couples have asked for this before, and it has never been needed.

Can you play our cocktail hour at a different venue?

Yes. Jared sets up the cocktail hour space first, then plays the ceremony at Sunrise, with no extra charge for the second venue.

What if it rains?

A fine mist is OK. If real rain falls, Jared moves with you to your indoor backup, such as Halfway House.
