What if the violinist gets sick?

It's a fair question to ask any solo musician. Here's the plan if Jared can't play your wedding.

Short answer

Extreme Strings has trusted substitute violinists Jared has auditioned and trusts to play at his level, plus backup sound equipment. A substitute steps in only in rare cases, like a serious illness, a family emergency or a car accident on the day.

Backup players

Jared plays most Extreme Strings weddings himself. Behind him is a roster of musicians he has auditioned. In his words: “I have two substitutes who I trust to play at the same level as me... that is a rare circumstance that only happens like serious illness or family emergency.”

Denver violinists Lannie Shelton and Bonnie Brooksbank also perform with Extreme Strings, so a trusted player is available if Jared can't be there.

Backup equipment

Gear can fail too. Jared brings his own professional sound system to every wedding and keeps backup systems on hand, so a bad cable or a dead speaker doesn't stop the music. He arrives about an hour early, which leaves time to sort out any problem before guests sit down.

Why a substitute can step in smoothly

Your plans don't live in one person's head. Everything you decide is kept in your BookLive client portal:

  • Your signed contract and payment schedule
  • Your song picks for every moment, from prelude to postlude
  • Your day-of timeline and cues from the planning call

Because your plan is written down in one place instead of living in one person's head, a substitute has the same songs and timeline to work from.

If you need to move your date

It works the other way too. If you reschedule and Jared is free on your new date, he moves your booking with no change fee. If he isn't free, he'll propose one of his substitutes.
